Ian Poveda has struggled to make an impact at Leeds United, but the winger is currently performing well at Sheffield Wednesday.

Ian Poveda joined Leeds United from Manchester City in January 2020. Victor Orta played an important role in the transfer.

Ian Poveda struggled with Leeds United.
Poveda was expected to have a significant effect at Leeds, but he failed to deliver. In 2021-22, the Colombia international was on loan with Blackburn Rovers, and in 2022-23, he was at Blackpool.

Then, in the January transfer window, Leeds chose to send Poveda on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the remainder of the season. He made only one start and six substitute appearances in the Championship for Daniel Farke’s team.

Ian Poveda is blossoming at Sheffield Wednesday.

Poveda has already established himself as a key player on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Colombian has four starts and one substitute appearances in the Championship for the Owls. He contributed one assist in those games.

Wednesday are currently ranked second from bottom in the Championship table. Danny Rohl’s squad has 32 points from 34 matches, three behind 21st-placed Queens Park Rangers.

The Owls have begun to show encouraging results. They have won three of their past four Championship games and scored six points in their last two. They could avoid relegation.

Wednesday overcame Bristol City 2-1 at home on Saturday, and Poveda is pleased with the result, as shown below.

Poveda started as a right winger and played 84 minutes. He was an expert on the ball and was full of tricks. The youngster worked hard as well, and as you can see, he was satisfied with the end outcome.

The winger is content with the way things are going for him and Wednesday at the moment. He was also celebrating the Owls’ away triumph over Millwall last Saturday.

It’ll be intriguing to watch what happens to Poveda by the end of the season. He is out of contract with Leeds in the summer of 2024.
