Daiki Hashioka strikes
Leeds United’s desire to sign Daiki Hashioka could be halted, with Luton Town now in control of his future. The Japan international was left out of Sint-Truiden’s team to face Genk, despite speculations in Belgium that he was close to signing a contract to join Elland Road.
However, it appears that he will join Luton in the Premier League, and Leeds are forced to search elsewhere before the transfer deadline on Thursday. The Whites have been heavily connected with bids for full-backs following Djed Spence and Luke Ayling’s departures from the club this month, but have yet to add to their roster.
Hjelde could move.
Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Leeds United’s Leo Hjelde. According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, the Black Cats are planning a late window move for the defender, who has battled to break into the first squad under Daniel Farke.
The Norwegian may provide cover across the back line for the Black Cats, potentially increasing their play-off chances as they aim to finish in the top six. He has only appeared three times under Farke and has fallen down the pecking order with the arrivals of Sam Byram and Joe Rodon.
