Leeds United will lose 15% of any transfer sum received for Crysencio Summerville because Feyenoord has a sell-on clause, according to 1908.
According to the news outlet’s website (2 July), the 22-year-old Dutch winger is garnering interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain [Telegraaf, 2 July] following his standout Championship season.
Fabrizio Romano has previously stated that Leeds want between £35-40 million to allow him to transfer, however Feyenoord will collect 10% of the sum as part of their sell-on clause, as well as additional 5% as a solidarity contribution for him coming through their academy.
Leeds United must demand a high fee to prevent missing out on the deal.
After Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham was announced, the club is no longer under any obligation to sell top stars this summer.
The 49ers are open to trades if the price is right, with Illan Meslier being mentioned [David Ornstein, 2 July], although Summerville is expected to leave and the club will not stand in his way [Ben Jacobs, 24 June].
That doesn’t mean they’ll let him leave for cheap, and with the Whites compelled to give up 15% of the money to Feyenoord, they’ll be even more determined to drive up the price to obtain the best deal possible.
With the PSR deadline having passed, it appears that most clubs’ hopes of signing him for a cheaper sum have faded, leaving Leeds in a strong negotiating position.
Unless Summerville decides to press for a move, which seems likely as the summer unfolds, teams must put up or shut up.
