Leeds United are closing up their preparations for the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Norwich City this weekend.
Patrick Bamford will miss both legs of Leeds United’s Championship play-off semifinal against Norwich City. The striker, who regained his goal-scoring touch in 2024 and established himself as the focal point of Daniel Farke’s attack, has not appeared since the Whites’ thrilling 4-3 victory over Middlesbrough on April 22 owing to a knee injury.
In his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of Sunday’s trip to Carrow Road, Whites manager Farke stated: “Patrick will surely miss both legs. He has consulted a separate knee doctor, and there is mild trauma to his patellar tendon. He obviously requires a few weeks to recover.”
“It’s critical that others stand up; some will gain our approval, and the entire squad has my support and trust. “We don’t feel sorry for ourselves.”
Farke has revealed that Wales international Daniel James could return to action this weekend. The wide winger has missed the past two games after hurting an abdominal muscle at the Riverside.
Wales international James has had perhaps the finest year of his career, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in the Whites’ promotion campaign. In the run-in, United lacked James and Bamford’s experience and skill, losing to Queens Park Rangers and Southampton in consecutive games to finish third in the Championship.
“Daniel James is making good progress,” Farke stated. “He is getting closer and closer.
“There is a chance he’ll be available. It will depend on the following 48 hours.
