Leeds United are likely to receive a monetary windfall as a result of Rafa Mujica’s upcoming transfer from Arouca in Portugal to Qatari club Al-Sadd.
The Whites have made significant investments in youth acquisitions over the last few years, but few have resulted in first-team action.
Those who have already left the club are eager to advance their careers elsewhere, and several have had outstanding 23/24 seasons.
Rafa Mujica is moving to Qatar three years after leaving Leeds.
Mujica has become one of the most lethal goalscorers in the Portuguese top flight this season, with 20 goals and three assists.
His form piqued the interest of Qatari club Al-Sadd, and an £8.6 million move to the Middle East is on the cards.
Leeds to receive a share of Rafa Mujica’s Qatar transfer fee.
Tinta Amarilla has now stated that Leeds are entitled to a portion of the money for Mujica’s transfer to Al-Sadd in Qatar.
The amount looks to be just about £140,000 (€166,000), with €500,000 split between the three clubs that coached him prior to Arouca: Barcelona, Leeds, and Las Palmas.
Mujica Banks Leeds gets a substantial income boost from Qatar’s transfer.
It’s unfortunate that he’s leaving for Qatar while in peak condition in Europe, but it allows Leeds to put some money on the books.
Mujica might have easily bet on a move to a larger club in Europe, but it’s becoming more common for players to relocate to the Middle East at the peak of their careers.
Hopefully, this is not the last time we see him in Europe, as he is certainly a fantastic goalscorer.
