Leeds United have a number of players out of contract this summer, and the 49ers must decide who stays and who leaves, including Liam Cooper.
Daniel Farke is preparing his team for the final two league games of the regular season, against QPR and Southampton.
With so little time left in the season, planning for players whose contracts are about to expire are becoming more urgent.
revealed: every Leeds player whose contract expires in 2024
Robin Koch’s pre-contract agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt has been confirmed, which means he will leave permanently at the end of the season, as will Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas, who will all depart when their contracts expire.
A few players have gone out on loan this season in their final year of contracts, and regardless of how well they perform, they are likely to leave as well.
Liam Cooper expected to part ways with Leeds – Report
LeedsLive has examined each player whose contract is expiring at Elland Road, with Cooper one of those who appears to be on his way out.
“It already feels like the end of an era for Leeds, with Dallas retiring and Ayling maybe on his way. Cooper, now 32, requires no introduction for his dedication to the cause at Elland Road, and he, too, may be waving goodbye after a decade-long tenure unless new terms are agreed upon.
“The centre-back has appeared in 15 Championship games this season. Despite being limited to the replacements bench in recent months, his experience remains valuable to the club.
Perfect time for Cooper to bid farewell.
Cooper has been an excellent servant to the club over the last ten years and deserves a farewell as spectacular as Ayling and Dallas.
If we can get promoted while those three say their goodbyes to Elland Road, it would be the ideal way for them to bookend it.
From a playing standpoint, we need to move on from the players that got us through the last time.
