According to Phil Hay, Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk would “likely” require surgery to fix his injury concerns.
On Monday (25 March), the journalist wrote on The Athletic website about Daniel Farke, who disclosed last week that an injectable therapy programme had failed to get the 24-year-old fit.
Hay added that the manner Farke stated it implied surgery, which would keep him out of Elland Road until the summer.
Leeds United is well-set in central defense despite Pascal Struijk’s punch.
Leeds has suffered a setback as the injection therapy has failed to restore Struijk’s fitness in time for the last few weeks of the season.
Nevertheless, there’s a chance that without surgery, the injury might worsen if they push him back into the fold too soon after the injections.
His surgical needs are yet unknown, but considering that he hasn’t been active since late last year, there’s a good chance that he will need surgery.
Given how well Ethan Ampadu has integrated into the back four alongside his compatriot Joe Rodon, Farke would have a difficult time reintroducing the Belgian to the starting lineup.
As long as one of those two does not sustain an injury in the coming weeks, the Whites should be well-prepared at centre-back given their stellar defense record this year.
