Leeds United are apparently interested in bringing Kalvin Phillips back to Elland Road, after the England international failed to flourish at Man City and West Ham United.
The transfer rumour won’t go away. Despite the midfielder’s problems with Manchester City and West Ham United, promotion-chasing Leeds United are still strongly linked with a summer move for him.
The England international, a key member of the Whites’ 2020 promotion-winning team under Marcelo Bielsa, has an uncertain future following a turbulent season. Since joining the Hammers in the January transfer window, Phillips’ career has not gone as expected.
It has been reported that Phillips would contemplate returning to Elland Road this summer. The Sun reported that City would sell the 28-year-old for about £30 million.
Leeds Live recently polled fans regarding the potential of re-signing Phillips, despite his dismal performance for West Ham. More than 1,500 people took part, with 55% saying the Whites should consider the deal if the price is reasonable. Thirty-nine percent replied no, while six percent said “yes, at any price.”
We also asked supporters about the cost of a prospective trade for Phillips. We asked, ‘What is the most United should spend on Phillips?’
49 percent responded with £25 million, 30 percent with £10 million, and 18 percent with ‘nothing.’ Three percent chose £40 million, but none voted for £50 million or more.
Phillips, who was left out of the current England squad, is set to return to his original club Manchester City following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
