Leeds United prodigy Archie Gray is likely guaranteed to be courted by some of the country’s biggest teams in the coming months, particularly if Daniel Farke fails to achieve promotion.
Daniel Farke has done an outstanding job at Leeds, leading the team to this point total after 33 games, although promotion is far from guaranteed.
With that, there is always the fear that if Leeds do not advance this season, they may be forced to sell players in order to balance the books and return.
Archie Gray has again been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Archie Gray, a Leeds fan, just signed a new deal that would keep him at Elland Road until 2028.
However, that hasn’t prevented discussion about one of the country’s most promising young players and where he could play football in 24/25.
According to Football Insider, if Leeds do not get promoted, they can expect a “deluge” of proposals in the summer.
Liverpool is one of the teams rumored to be interested in signing the promising 17-year-old as they rebuild without Jurgen Klopp this summer.
Gray and Leeds could experience development similar to Jude Bellingham’s
A teenage midfielder thriving in his first Championship season and becoming a star player is nothing new; Jude Bellingham did the same in 19/20 and has gone on to become one of the world’s greatest in a short of years at Real Madrid.
He spent one complete season with Birmingham City’s senior team before leaving for Borussia Dortmund for £25 million, helping the Blues stay afloat after years of turmoil.
If Leeds fails to be promoted, they will not be in the same turmoil that led Birmingham to sell Bellingham in order to keep their club alive, but the player may be a prized asset, allowing Leeds to avoid a fire sale across the board.
They’d undoubtedly receive more than £25 million, and while it’s uncertain whether any young talent in England can match Bellingham, Gray has a crazily high ceiling that might propel him to elite status soon – if he makes the correct move.
It would be a huge disappointment for Leeds to stay down, see Gray move for a top club, and see him become the player he aspired to be here at Elland Road.
