According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Real Betis has made an offer for Diego Llorente that Leeds United has refused.
On Sunday (7 July), Fabrizio Romano of X claimed that Llorente had signed to a four-year contract with Real Betis and was expected to join the club for roughly £2.5 million.
However, the YEP claimed later on Sunday (7 July) that those rumors were inaccurate and that the Whites had rejected a bid for the Spanish defender.
Llorente still has two years left on his Elland Road contract.
Will Diego Llorente, a Leeds United defender, leave Elland Road to join Real Betis?
What a perplexing development.
Though it seems like he may have gone a little too early on this one, a Romano “Here we go” is typically taken as good confirmation of a transfer.
According to Romano’s claim, Llorente was eager to join Real Betis, and it’s likely that Daniel Farke and Leeds fans were also eager for the player to go.
He obviously has no future at Elland Road, and the Whites have shown from last season that they can contend for promotion without the 30-year-old.
Everyone involved in the transaction will thus be hoping that this is only a little bump in the road leading to a final agreement.
Leeds may have rejected your application for a number of reasons, including problems with the final fee or the payment schedule.
Supporters should, however, reasonably anticipate that both teams will ultimately reach a consensus because there seems to be a desire on everyone’s behalf to complete a deal.
