Charlie Crew, a Leeds United wonder, was ruled out of first-team training with Daniel Farke’s side at Thorp Arch due to a minor injury, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

On Wednesday (13 March), the outlet stated on its website that the 17-year-old midfielder was slated to participate in first-team training with Farke’s automatic promotion-chasing group in recent weeks.

However, the Welsh youth international sustained a minor injury, ruling him out. Crew is likely to play for Wales’ U21s in March, despite his young age, as he continues to impress at both the club and international levels.

Will Charlie Crew play for Leeds United this season?

Farke has already demonstrated this season that he is not hesitant to introduce young players into the Leeds United first team if he believes they are ready to make a consistent good effect on his squad week in and week out.

The Whites manager has started 17-year-old Archie Gray 32 times in the Championship this season and has placed a lot of trust in the young midfielder, playing him both in the middle of the park and at right-back week in and week out.

Daniel Farke has not been reluctant to promote young players at Leeds United.

If Crew demonstrates to Farke that he is worthy of first-team consideration, the German will almost probably give him game time between now and the end of the season, despite the fact that he is still a youngster with little experience.

The 17-year-old’s injury seemed to have come at the worst possible time, as he appeared to be on his way to a position in the first-team squad this season, but that will not be his only opportunity at Thorp Arch.

Hopefully, Leeds fans will see another academy sensation featured regularly in Farke’s lineup in the coming weeks and months, regardless of whether they gain promotion to the Premier League.
