Leeds United intend to listen to bids for midfielder Marc Roca once his loan spell at Real Betis ends, but the player has previously stated that he is willing to go temporarily if the Whites are not promoted this season.
As Daniel Farke prepares his side for the promotion run-in, with Millwall up next at Elland Road, some arrangements will be put in place for any eventuality that may occur in the summer.
Promotion back to the Premier League undoubtedly makes life simpler for Leeds and the 49ers, but failing to advance could pose complications.
Leeds plan to sell Marc Roca this summer, according to a report.
According to Football Insider, Leeds’ early summer preparations include accepting offers for Spanish midfielder Marc Roca.
He was one of the players who departed the club in the summer due to a loan provision in his contract, and he had been doing well at Real Betis until recently, when a case of pneumonia caused a drop in form.
According to reports, Leeds will consider offers for Roca regardless of the outcome of the Whites’ promotion attempt in May.
Roca joined Leeds from Bayern Munich for £10 million and is under contract until 2026.
If Leeds do not get promoted, Roca has the option to depart on loan.
A key stumbling block in Leeds’ transfer strategy is that Roca has acknowledged this season that his loan clause to leave may extend into the following season.
If Leeds are not promoted this season, he can prolong his loan spell away from the club for another year, as he told El Desmarque:
“There’s a clause like this year. If Leeds does not make the Premier League, I can go out on loan again. Let us see.
“It depends if they move up or not. These are things beyond my control.
“I truly hope they advance, and I wish them all the best. I am grateful to them and wish them the best; it has been my home, and from there we will see.”
Leeds has to maximize these player sales by getting promoted.
There are numerous reasons why Leeds should return to the Premier League next season, including these loan players.
We were able to sell Luis Sinisterra for £20 million, but many of these players will not have it as easy.
Roca’s condition makes matters difficult for us, and we risk missing out on another £10 million-plus transaction if we don’t move up.
