Leeds United, Torino, Crystal Palace, Hoffenheim, and VfB Stuttgart have all expressed interest in KAA Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha.
The permanent signing of Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur has bolstered Daniel Farke’s defensive resources and given Leeds United a much-needed preseason boost. More signings are likely at Elland Road in the coming weeks, and the Whites urgently need to strengthen their backline.
Could a move for Jordan Torunarigha be in the works? United are apparently one of the clubs interested in signing the KAA Gent centre-back this summer. Torino, Crystal Palace, Hoffenheim, and VfB Stuttgart have all expressed an interest in the Nigerian international in recent days.
Torunarigha, who can also play left-back, joined Gent on loan before signing a permanent deal at the end of the 2021/22 season. He has established himself as an important player of their team, collecting up 44 appearances across all competitions last season to help the club finish in seventh place in the Belgian Pro League.
However, the 26-year-old defender is anticipated to leave Gent in the summer transfer window, having entered the final year of his contract. Gent are thought to be open to bids for Torunarigha. It has been stated that they are aiming for a transfer fee of roughly €2.5 million for the player.
Torunarigha told Transfermarkt: “There are really fascinating and concrete queries that I deal with. I feel excellent; I’m in great shape and ready for the next stage.
“I still have a year remaining on my contract and I’m not in a hurry. Let’s see what happens. I strive to achieve the highest athletic goals attainable. That obviously influences my decision.”
Torunarigha, who was born in Chemnitz, has 104 appearances for Gent, scoring four goals and assisting three times.
