Leeds United ‘doubts’ arise as Simon Jordan hails ‘remarkable’ Ipswich, live on talkSPORT

Simon Jordan has expressed doubts that there would be another twist in the Championship season, predicting that Ipswich will do their job and beat Leeds United to promotion.

According to the talkSPORT broadcaster, Ipswich have already won a difficult game against Coventry and are expected to do so against a struggling Huddersfield team.

He also lauded Kieran McKenna for leading the Tractor Boys from League One to the brink of promotion to the Premier League.

Jordan stated live on talkSPORT [1 May, 10:10]: “I truly doubt it [another twist could occur]. That is assuming Leeds wins their game; if Leeds does not win, Ipswich does not need any points.

“I really can’t imagine it. Huddersfield is in the bottom three for a reason, Ipswich is at home, and the hard work was completed last night by travelling to Coventry and winning.

“I believe they will do more than enough to win the game. It’s a great accomplishment.

Simon Jordan shares the latest Leeds United promotion verdict.

Ipswich’s 2-1 victory against Coventry on April 30 means they only need one point against Huddersfield in the last game of the season to beat Leeds to automatic promotion following a tight race to the Premier League.

With Huddersfield all but relegated due to their terrible goal difference, they will have little to play for, increasing the likelihood of a straightforward Ipswich win to send them up and condemn Leeds to the playoffs.

Leeds only have themselves to blame for winning only one of their last five games, squandering multiple opportunities while Ipswich also dropped points, and failing to capitalise on their chance to gain promotion.

Daniel Farke’s team will face Southampton on the final day of the season, knowing that all they can do is win and hope Huddersfield can surprise their rivals, but as Jordan pointed out, it appears doubtful.
