The most recent injury updates from Thorp Arch as Leeds United prepare to face Watford.
Daniel Farke has provided mixed news on the injury front as Leeds United prepare to face Watford. First team regulars Joe Rodon and Daniel James are pressing for recalls after recuperating from their minor knocks.
Centre-back Rodon and winger James were not risked in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Millwall. During his press conference today, Whites manager Farke stated: “They have been back in training since yesterday. It was a precautionary measure to keep them safe (on Saturday). They are again available.”
Experienced defender Max Wober was also absent, as Farke’s plan to field a depleted squad failed to pay off. Farke stated, “He has an ongoing knee problem and will require surgery as soon as possible. He will be out until after the next international break.” “He’ll have surgery and be out for six weeks.”
Following Wober’s latest injury setback, Farke’s only senior centre-back alternatives are Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Pascal Struijk. Patrick Bamford (hamstring) remains sidelined. “He is not back in team training and will not return for the Watford game,” Farke informed reporters.
With title challengers Sheffield United and Burnley not playing until Wednesday evening, the Whites go to Hertfordshire knowing that a third consecutive Championship win will put them five points clear at the top. United has gone five games without surrendering a goal in the league.
Watford have slid to tenth place in the league following an alarming slump in form. They are presently three points outside the play-offs after winning only one of their last nine league games.
