Leeds United have appointed Martin Diggle from Liverpool as the club’s new academy director.
Since the 49ers took over the club, the Whites have made numerous changes to the boardroom and backstage staff.
It was evident that the old regime had used very outmoded methods to complete jobs at Elland Road and Thorp Arch, allowing the new owners to play catch-up.
Leeds appoints Martin Diggle from Liverpool as academy director.
According to Training Ground Guru, Leeds have appointed Martin Diggle from Liverpool as their new academy director.
Diggle joins West Yorkshire after serving as Anfield’s head of coach development for over five years. He previously worked for the FA.
He replaces Adam Underwood at Leeds, who was appointed head of football operations when the 49ers took over in the summer.
49ers are making greater attempts to centralize infrastructure.
After years of having Victor Orta as the primary figure in football operations and player signings, the 49ers clearly needed to clean things up, and they are still doing so.
Diggle isn’t the only newcomer confirmed by the club this month; Jordan Miles, who formerly worked for West Ham, Derby County, and Ipswich Town, will join from Aberdeen as the Whites’ new head of recruitment.
The boardroom shift has also resulted in the addition of a number of additional scouts to diversify the pool of workers striving to enhance Elland Road.
Another brilliant move from Leeds behind the scenes.
The sheer volume of appointments made by the club over the last eight months demonstrates how much work needed to be done to rejuvenate the club.
Andrea Radrizzani’s business was not up to Premier League standards, as evidenced by our deserved relegation.
We’re in a far better position now than we were before, and this type of appointment simply reinforces that.
