Leeds United may make an approach for Celtic player Matt O’Riley if they are promoted to the Premier League this season.
That is according to GIVEMESPORT, which reported on Saturday (23 March) that Celtic would be willing to trade him provided they could raise enough money for his services.
GIVEMESPORT stated that the Scottish club holds all the cards in such a sale, given that O’Riley still has three years on his contract.
Can Leeds United win the race for Celtic’s Matt O’Riley?
Even with his long-term deal in Scotland, the Celtic ace is expected to face competition in the summer transfer market.
The Bhoys will, of course, want to keep the 23-year-old, who made his Denmark debut against Northern Ireland in a Euro 2024 qualifier last November.
He was left on the bench for his country’s most recent friendly against Switzerland on Saturday, but he should expect to make many more appearances in the near future.
Under Brendan Rodgers, the midfielder has appeared in 39 games across all competitions this season.
And he has certainly pushed his ingenuity to the next level, as O’Riley has 11 goals and 15 assists.
If the Whites do win promotion this season, as appears likely, Daniel Farke will definitely want to improve his alternatives as soon as possible.
And it might imply an early move for O’Riley, who has previously played in England with Fulham and MK Dons.
