According to Matteo Moretto, Wilfried Gnonto is aiming to leave Leeds United during the January transfer window, with interest from teams such as West Ham.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s Substack update (19 January), the credible journalist reports that the Italy winger wishes to depart Elland Road during the current window.
West Ham are “expected” to sign the 20-year-old, according to reports, but with no contract in place, Moretto claims Gnonto is aggressively pursuing the move he desires.
“He wants to leave Leeds United, and there are teams interested,” he added.
“He was linked with a move in the summer, and tried to leave then, and he is trying to leave again during this transfer window.”
Here we go again.
Another transfer window, another period in which everyone is wondering if Gnonto will still be at the club at the end of it.
When it came to the summer, the club insisted that he would not be sold, even issuing a public statement to clarify this and put speculation to rest.
The player refused to play and practice, but he finally apologised and was reintegrated into the squad by Daniel Farke, who stated at the time that he would not do so again if the situation arose.
Gnonto is now looking to move again after limited game time, and Leeds may be more willing to make a deal as a result, with their goal being to keep their best players, such as Crysencio Summerville.
It will undoubtedly be a long transfer window, but we hope to be able to keep him because we need the depth we now have to battle for promotion back to the top flight.
