According to the Daily Record, Dylan Wells is expected to sign a new contract with Motherwell, effectively ending any chances of a pre-contract with Leeds United.
The Whites are one of several clubs keeping an eye on the 18-year-old’s position at Fir Park, with Premier League club Brighton also reportedly interested in signing him.
However, it appears that Leeds will miss out, with the Daily Record reporting that discussions between Scottish Premiership team Motherwell and Wells are at a “advanced stage”.
Indeed, they stated that an agreement might be reached within a matter of weeks.
How has Leeds United used youngsters this season?
Daniel Farke’s leadership at Elland Road has created a clear pathway for emerging talent.
The Whites’ manager has already groomed players like Archie Gray to become key components of the first team.
It was one of Farke’s success factors at Norwich City, using young players to make an impact on the first team.
Max Aarons stole the show for the Canaries, and the versatile Gray is undeniably the star at Leeds.
According to FotMob, the 18-year-old has already played 3,219 minutes, including 36 starts and three substitute appearances.
He has primarily played as a right back, but he can also be seen in the middle of the field as a six or farther forward.
At 23 years old, Ethan Ampadu has emerged as one of the Whites’ most important players under Farke, performing in a variety of roles.
Add to this another youngster, Crysencio Summerville, who is 22 and has been one of the finest players in the division this season. The Dutchman’s return has been phenomenal, with 17 goals and eight assists [FotMob].
This season, youth has been a huge part of the Leeds team, and it is only going to get greater under Farke’s leadership.
