According to the Daily Express, Leeds United and a number of other clubs are interested in signing Alvyn Sanches after FC Lausanne-Sport reduced their asking price.
The newspaper stated on August 21 that the Whites are one of seven European clubs interested in the Swiss midfielder, who is available for £3 million after Lausanne-Sport cut their initial estimate by 25% from £4 million.
The 21-year-old is allegedly close to joining Celtic this summer, but the Peacocks are still interested, despite Lausanne-Sport’s lack of need to sell the central midfielder.
Daniel Farke is looking for a new number 10 after Georginio Rutter left for Brighton, and Gent, Anderlecht, Burnley, Feyenoord, and Udinese have all expressed “concrete interest” in Sanches this summer.
Leeds United must take the initiative to sign Alvyn Sanches.
The departure of Rutter to Brighton due to his relegation release clause creates a significant gap in the attacking midfield at Elland Road, as well as a £40 million financial loss for the club.
Add that to the equivalent price obtained for Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham, as well as the £25 million paid for Crysencio Summerville’s move to West Ham, and the Whites have plenty of money to spend on replacements.
However, Jayden Bogle’s arrival from Sheffield United on July 20 remains United’s most recent addition, with the following month seeing Farke’s two most talismanic characters depart for large monies.
Despite being a relative unknown who has only ever played in Switzerland, the number of clubs interested in Sanches shows that signing him would be a major coup for the Whites.
Beating Celtic to Sanches’ signature would still leave the 49ers Enterprises with a lot of work to do, but it could be the best start to the end of a window that appears to have gotten out of control.
