Leeds new signing: ‘Explosive’ details emerge about the bid to recruit Mergim Berisha

Mergim Berisha, a Leeds United transfer target, was handled by infamous football agent Roger Wittman before joining Hoffenheim, according to Laola1.

The news site reported (16 January) the “explosive” revelations, as the centre-forward prepares to depart the Bundesliga club after changing agents.

The Whites are interested in the 26-year-old, and a loan deal with a buy option has emerged as a possibility [Ben Heckner, January 9].

Leeds United will strengthen their attack with Mergim Berisha move.

The addition of the Germany international to the Peacocks’ roster appears to strengthen their offense.

While Berisha’s results at Hoffenheim aren’t encouraging, with only one goal this season, he hasn’t been given many opportunities.

The 26-year-old has yet to establish himself in the Bundesliga club’s starting lineup, and fitness difficulties have impeded his progress.

Daniel Farke has relied on Joel Piroe to produce goals consistently this season, but the Dutchman cannot be expected to carry the majority of the responsibility.

Leeds also has Moteo Joseph on their roster, but the young Spaniard has failed to impress many despite being given a steady run of games at the start of the season.

Farke will undoubtedly look to bolster his attacking ranks during the winter transfer window as he seeks promotion to the Premier League.

The Elland Road faithful expect the Whites to win the Championship, but they will face competition from Burnley and Sheffield United.

While the West Yorkshire club have a strong squad, they could do with more depth in certain positions, including the striking department.

Patrick Bamford has fallen down the pecking order and seemingly looks on his way out, with Berisha looking like an ideal replacement for the English forward.
