Nick Montgomery has confirmed that Kris Moore, a Leeds United defender, will not play a second game for Hibernian after joining the club on trial.
The Scottish club’s boss confirmed to Hibs TV on Friday (12 January, via Football Scotland) that the 20-year-old played right-back in his team’s 5-1 defeat to Swiss outfit Servette FC in a behind-closed-doors encounter in Dubai.
However, he added that the Edinburgh side’s scheduled encounter against Wolves next week will no longer take place, denying Moore the opportunity to make a further impression as he prepares to leave Elland Road this month.
“We were due to play two games over here but we didn’t have enough players to do that,” Montgomery said. “So what we did tonight was mix the teams up, with some young boys and trial players.
“With Lewis Miller gone, it was an excellent opportunity to bring in Kris Moore and try him out at right-back.
“Adryan had been out of the game for a few months due to a family crisis, but he was training in Dubai, so we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for him to come and practice with us while we also looked at him. “The camp has been beneficial for a variety of reasons.”
On his way out.
Moore is set to leave Leeds in the January transfer window, even if he does not sign for Hibernian.
The fact that Daniel Farke permitted him to join the SPFL club on trial demonstrates that he does not see him getting into the first-team at Elland Road.
He does, however, have another year left on his contract after this season, having signed a contract extension last summer that runs until 2025.
Hibs will now decide whether to grant him a contract to join them this month, with the defender evidently eager to have his first taste of senior football as he is yet to make his debut for the Whites.
He’ll be hoping he did enough at his appearance on Friday, as this story is expected to unfold over the coming days.
