West Ham United are in talks with Leeds United over a “expensive package” for Crysencio Summerville, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer journalist revealed via GiveMeSport [26 July] that the Hammers have made contact with both the player and the club after speaking with Leeds last week.
Summerville is thought to be on the Premier League club’s shortlist this summer, but despite the “genuine” desire, the Irons may be unable to pay him.
Will Crysencio Summerville leave Leeds United this summer?
As soon as the final whistle rang at Wembley Stadium, and Leeds were pipped to Premier League promotion by Southampton, speculation began as to which players would go this summer.
Glen Kamara and Archie Gray may have already been shock exits. Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, and Georginio Rutter were thought to be the most sought-after players this summer.
Now, the race for their 22-year-old Dutchman appears to be heating up, with many clubs expressing an interest in him Summerville from Elland Road.
Of course, with 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, the Whites should not settle for a low cost if Summerville leaves the club before the 2024/25 season.
The winger is undoubtedly Daniel Farke’s most essential player, and if he leaves, Leeds will be left with a vacuum to fill while hoping to be promoted at the second time around.
Summerville concluded the season as Leeds’ top scorer in the Championship and second-best playmaker. His departure would be disastrous if the club was unable to locate a suitable replacement.
With the arrivals of Joe Rodon, who signed a permanent deal from Tottenham, Joe Rothwell, and Jayden Bogle, the Whites are doing well to solve the squad’s concerns, but things might go much worse.
