Leeds United have joined the hunt to recruit Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara, according to Corriere dello Sport.
According to the Italian daily [26 July, page 31], Atalanta value the 25-year-old, while Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Galatasaray are also interested in the Championship ace.
Sara has been tremendously impressive at Carrow Road, scoring 13 goals and 12 assists in 46 Championship appearances last season and being termed “outstanding” by David Wagner [Pink Un].
Leeds United to recruit Gabriel Sara to its squad?
With some of Daniel Farke’s attacking players linked with moves away from Elland Road this summer, signing a free-scoring midfielder makes perfect sense for the Whites.
Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, and Georginio Rutter have all been linked with moves away from West Yorkshire as the club misses out on promotion to the Premier League [TEAMtalk].
The three attacking players combined for 33 goals and 26 assists in the Championship last season, but it was unable to propel the Whites back to the top flight, as they were defeated by Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.
Sara, who could have been crowned Norwich’s Player of the Season for the second year in a row, may have greatly aided Farke’s team in achieving promotion.
Last season, only five players scored more Championship goals than the Norwich man: Adam Amstrong, Sammie Szmodics, Summerville, Morgan Whittaker, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Canaries are well aware of how crucial the Brazilian is to their club, and they will not want to lose him so easily this summer.
With Palace, Leicester, and Galatasaray all keen in signing the 25-year-old, Leeds must act quickly to secure the player, but this may be impossible unless another star is sold.
