Leeds could make move for ‘wonderful’ £25m star this summer if promoted

Leeds United would explore signing one 11-goal midfielder this summer if Daniel Farke’s side wins promotion this season.

Leeds, of course, entered the international break at the top of the Championship table. Obviously, there will be plenty more twists to come. However, based on their present record, the Whites are well positioned to make a quick return to the Premier League.

Hopefully, we can keep our quartet of superb midfielders no matter what happens. However, it would be beneficial for Leeds to look into adding another midfield option, particularly one who can have a greater effect in the last third.

Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, and Glen Kamara have all gone scoreless in the Championship this season. Meanwhile, Archie Gray’s strike against Leicester City was declared an own goal.

Leeds might bid for a £25 million midfielder if promoted.

So it’s heartening that Give Me Sport reports that Leeds could make a run for Matt O’Riley if we are promoted.

Brighton and Bournemouth are interested in signing O’Riley following another fantastic season with Celtic. This season, the Denmark international has scored 11 goals and assisted 15 times across all competitions.

Matt O’Riley may well be a Premier League footballer next season

Leeds signed O’Riley last summer. However, the Hoops are now seeking at least £25 million for the 23-year-old. So it’s not surprising that our prospects of making a move will initially be determined by whether we go up or down.

Give Me Sport recalls that Brendan Rodgers has previously described O’Riley as a ‘great’ footballer. And, regardless of whether we return to the top level of English football, there will undoubtedly be opportunities to transfer to the Premier League.

Signing Glen Kamara from one of the Scottish Premiership’s powerhouses has proven to be a masterstroke. Perhaps Leeds will look to Glasgow again for one of their key acquisitions this summer.
