Craig Hope reports that Leeds United are interested in signing Southampton’s Adam Armstrong on deadline day.
On Monday (3 February, 12:46 pm), a Daily Mail journalist stated on the newspaper’s live transfer blog that Armstrong might depart the Saints before the transfer window closes at 11 p.m.
He went on to say that Elland Road is a possible destination for the Englishman, who is also garnering transfer interest from Middlesbrough.
Sunderland, meanwhile, has downplayed their interest in the forward.
Leeds United will turn to Adam Armstrong during the Cameron Archer dispute.
Daniel Farke’s side has had a quiet winter transfer window thus far, signing not a single player for the second half of the season.
However, they may be in for a busy conclusion to the window as they seek to reinforce their attack with less than 12 hours left on the clock.
It’s no secret that Leeds United are looking to sign Cameron Archer on deadline day.
However, Southampton are unwilling to allow the former Aston Villa star go, putting the Elland Road club in limbo [Graham Smyth].
The Saints appear to be more willing to sanction a late transfer for Armstrong.
This opens the door for Leeds to try to recruit the 27-year-old as they want to provide additional competition for Joel Piroe up front.
Armstrong has been a regular for the Premier League relegation battlers this season, appearing in 20 league games, although a switch to the second division remains a possibility.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds United can beat Middlesbrough to the former Blackburn Rovers star’s signature.
