Leeds United are expected to sign Callum O’Hare from Coventry as a replacement for Crysencio Summerville this summer, according to his buddy Alan Hutton.
O’Hare’s contract with Coventry expires on June 30 and he will be available on a free transfer, with Daniel Farke’s side poised to take advantage.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa player Hutton revealed that both Summerville and Georginio Rutter could go this summer, necessitating a suitable replacement.
Hutton, who played alongside O’Hare at Villa and is still close friends with him, said the 26-year-old fits the bill for Leeds and would be a “exciting” addition.
The midfielder missed the start of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury, but he appeared in 36 games across all competitions, scoring ten goals and giving four assists.
He also played an important role in Coventry’s journey to the FA Cup semi-finals, although he missed his penalty as they were eliminated by Manchester United.
Leeds United supported to land Callum O’Hare deal after Summerville’s departure
Following an excellent season at Coventry, O’Hare has drawn interest from West Ham, Aston Villa, and Southampton, according to Football Insider.
However, Hutton has now backed Leeds to beat their rivals to his signature, citing his talent and claiming he would fit in well at Elland Road.
“He fits the bill that Leeds like, and he’s an exciting player,” he told Football Insider.
“Especially if they’re going to lose someone like Summerville or Rutter, who may also go this summer.
“They’ll need to send someone in to replace these men.
“I know Callum O’Hare well; I played with him at Villa.
“He’s incredibly technically gifted, with an eye for a pass and the ability to score goals, and he’s still young and has experience at this level.
“I think that is something Leeds are definitely looking at and he suits them well.”
