According to the Daily Mirror, Leeds United and Sheffield United are at “loggerheads” over a summer transfer for Jayden Bogle.
According to the newspaper’s print version of July 17, the Blades want at least £7 million for the right-back if a deal is made.
Despite the defender’s contract expiring at the end of the season, current Leeds offers are lower than the asking price.
Leeds United should not pay £7 million for Jayden Bogle.
In all honesty, Leeds’ right-back situation is quite dire at the moment, as the club only has one genuine right-back on their roster, Rasmus Kristensen, who appears to be on his way to Eintracht Frankfurt [Florian Plettenberg, 16 July].
Jamie Shackleton and Archie Gray left Elland Road this summer, leaving a vacancy for Daniel Farke to fill.
Djed Spence and Connor Roberts were both on loan at separate stages last season, but it appears that their time with the Whites may come to an end.
Although Farke’s top priority this summer should be to ensure that the club has appropriate depth at full-back, it doesn’t mean they should spend £7 million on Bogle, especially given that he only has a year left on his contract.
Granted, the 23-year-old is still young and has plenty of room to grow, but the fee appears to be high, which is why Leeds should go elsewhere.
