Manor Solomon is set to join Leeds United on loan from Tottenham ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Paul O Keefe.
The FA registered agency and a trustworthy Spurs source told X on August 23 that the Whites are close to making another late signing, with a physical possibly taking place on Saturday, August 24.
The versatile forward would be the second of four additions Daniel Farke wants before the window closes [The Athletic, 16 August] after losing a number of key players, including the confirmed agreement for Almeria’s Largie Ramazani.
O Keefe wrote: “Manor Solomon is on the verge of joining Leeds on loan.” If all goes as planned, he may even have a medical tomorrow.
If he completes his transfer from Tottenham, he will join Bournemouth midfielder on loan at Elland Road this summer.
Leeds United to sign Spurs player following Largie Ramazani deal.
The move may have come much too late in the window, but the Whites are now responding with purpose after Georginio Rutter joined the list of prominent names to exit.
Farke will hope that Solomon and Ramazani can replace the productivity of the former Leeds United star who left for Brighton, as well as Crysencio Summerville’s departure to West Ham.
Those will be large shoes for the pair to fill, especially because Solomon only made six appearances for Tottenham last season.
He scored five goals, mostly from the bench, when on loan at Fulham last season after a lengthy absence due to a knee injury, and if he completes this move, he will hope to play more under Farke.
Dan James, Mateo Joseph, and Brenden Aaronson were among the brighter sparks in a much-needed first-season win over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, implying that a formidable offensive unit may be established again.
The 49ers should have had contingency plans in place to replace players like Summerville, Rutter, and Archie Gray as soon as any exit clauses were triggered, rather than acting late and failing to pursue prospects like Jonathan Rowe from Norwich [HITC, 20 August].
Three games without a win to begin the season was not the way the Whites’ owners had hoped to begin their second season in control after a turbulent summer the previous year.
And with less than a week until the window closes, they still need to find another midfielder and full-back to give Farke what he believes he requires to compete for promotion.
