Lee Sharpe reacts when asked if the 49ers should fire Daniel Farke if Leeds lose on Sunday

Leeds United face Southampton at Wembley on Sunday afternoon for a spot in the Premier League, and Lee Sharpe has responded to a query about Daniel Farke’s future.

Leeds head into Sunday’s encounter with momentum and two clean sheets in a row after defeating Norwich at Elland Road last week. A significant win that restored the bond between supporters and players.

Four players’ names appeared on the score sheet. Ilia Gruev has received some criticism in recent weeks, but scoring his first goal for Leeds will boost the Bulgarian’s confidence.

The same is true for Joel Piroe, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter. The latter had not scored or assisted in his previous nine games, while Summerville had cooled off slightly.

Piroe was left out of the starting lineup in the first leg and will have felt he had something to show in the second leg, which he most certainly did. Fans believe he had his best performance in a Leeds shirt.

However, the outcome of Sunday’s game will determine the season’s success. Some argue that Farke’s future should be called into doubt if he fails to get Leeds into the Premier League, but Sharpe dismissed that notion.

Sharpe believes 49ers must keep Farke even if Leeds lose.

Farke has received some criticism this season, but it is impossible that the German could lose his job given Leeds’ performance this season, especially given the wreckage he inherited.

Players who desire to leave can do so without permission because of Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause. Former Leeds player Sharpe was questioned by Football League World if Farke may be fired if Leeds lose.

“Absolutely (even if they lose, Leeds should support Farke). You cannot keep shifting managers. Leeds very narrowly missed out on automatic promotion, and long-term success requires consistent performance.

“Farke has demonstrated he can flourish at this level and should be given another chance if Leeds do not make it. Some players may have to depart, but I am certain that if Leeds do not make it, they will be promoted next year.”

Danny Mills has expressed concern about Farke’s future if Leeds lose. Despite a difficult start to the season, Farke has led the team to 90 points. Normally, a squad would be promoted automatically after scoring 90 points.

But this is the scenario Leeds is now in, and they will need to defeat Southampton on Sunday to go back into the major leagues. Former Leeds defender Mills has also spoken about Farke’s future.

“You have to continue with him; give him another year. Who else are you planning to bring in? Then there would be another turnover of players. It’s his first year, so I’d stick with him,” Mills recently told TalkSPORT.
