Chris Sutton has slammed Rangers boss Philippe Clement for his repeated excuses.
He argues that instead of complaining, Celtic fans should be relieved that the team is not managed by a “laughing stock” like Clement.
After winning the Old Firm derby, the Gers failed to score maximum points in both of their away games, leaving them 15 points behind their arch rivals.
On January 11, Sutton wrote in the Daily Record, “I can understand Rodgers’ mild pop at the supporters. Instead of complaining about the ball rolling backwards, they should be thankful they don’t have a laughingstock in charge like Philippe Clement. What a contrast.
“It nearly beyond belief that he is still employed while Gio van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale were let go for much less. Celtic have been excellent, but being 15 points down in January is simply disgusting.
“The Belgian waffle gets worse every week. Excuse after ludicrous excuse. Clement had the brass neck to discuss injury issues the other night, when Dundee had ten players out, including perhaps their greatest player, Lyall Cameron.
Rangers fans are weary of Philippe Clement’s continual complaining.
Many Gers fans are frustrated with Clement’s constant excuses, particularly given the lack of evident development since he took charge.
Under the Belgian’s leadership, the team has struggled and is lagging Celtic by a significant amount.
This predicament has prompted fans to reflect on the tenures of previous managers such as Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who, despite their own struggles, never saw the squad in such a dismal state.
The difference between Clement’s management and that of his predecessors is clear, with fans believing that the present explanations are not only unconvincing but also insulting, considering the club’s history and aspirations.
His comments about injury issues, especially in comparison to Dundee’s situation, have fueled the discontent.
Previous managers were fired for far less, raising the question of what else needs to happen before he is fired.
