Daniel Farke has released a fresh team news update on his Leeds United side ahead of tomorrow’s match against Rotherham.
The Whites were without five players for Tuesday’s FA Cup triumph against Plymouth Argyle, but Connor Roberts and Jamie Shackleton could return.
Leeds’ only other absentees in midweek were Pascal Struijk, Dan James, and Karl Darlow, although none of them figure to be back in contention for the Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.
Darlow has become somewhat of a forgotten character at Leeds, having been sidelined since the last game of 2023 after dislocating his thumb in the warm-up before the 1-0 loss to West Brom.
Farke, speaking at his pre-match press conference earlier today, provided an update on Darlow’s condition and expressed hope that he will be able to return to training within the next two weeks.
Farke offers an update on Darlow fitness.
He stated, “The latest news is that he will be able to return to team training in two weeks and, hopefully, be available for the games.” He’s currently engaged in fitness activities.”
Darlow had been fit for the majority of his time at Leeds following his summer transfer from Newcastle United, and he was finally in line for a few games in the side.
Illan Meslier’s red card at Preston North End resulted in a three-match suspension, with his first league start for Leeds coming against West Brom.
However, he suffered an injury at the worst possible time, which will likely have irritated him much, given that he moved to Leeds in order to be number one.
Thankfully, Leeds were able to get by well without their two first-choice goalkeepers, as Kristoffer Klaesson performed admirably in two successive 3-0 victories over Birmingham City and Peterborough United.
