Sacha Tavolieri believes Leeds United are unlikely to sign Roland Sallai on transfer deadline day.
The Belgian journalist wrote on his official X account (30 August) that sources are “pessimistic” about reaching an agreement with Freiburg for the versatile attacker.
He said that it is now a case of “wait and see” as the two teams attempt to reach an agreement on a transfer.
Leeds United to lose Roland Sallai on transfer deadline day?
The end of the transfer window has been particularly hectic as Leeds attempt to bolster their squad in order to boost their Championship title hopes this season.
Largie Ramizani and Manor Solomon have already arrived at Elland Road, while Ao Tanaka, who has had a medical (Yorkshire Evening Post), appears to be joining from Fortuna Dusseldorf.
They had wanted to get Hungary international Sallai into the club (Ben Jacobs), and his versatility to play on the right wing or in a more central offensive position would have been enormously beneficial.
As things stand, it appears that they are about to suffer a setback in that specific pursuit, which could necessitate starting over in order to add more attacking reinforcement.
Things move quickly on deadline day, though, so keep a watch on this one as Leeds may be able to persuade the Bundesliga club to sell later in the day.
