Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has responded to the Foxes securing their return to the Premier League following Leeds United’s defeat.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall responded to Leicester City’s promotion back to the Premier League with a dig at Leeds United.
On Friday night, the Foxes were guaranteed a spot in the automatic promotion standings despite not playing. Leeds United’s shocking 4-0 defeat to QPR at Loftus Road put them four points behind City with only one game remaining, guaranteeing Leicester’s spot in the top two at their expense.
The two teams have developed a rivalry throughout the season, with the Yorkshire club defeating Enzo Maresca’s team twice. A shocking 3-1 defeat at Elland Road infuriated Leicester fans, notably player Dewsbury-Hall.
Following that encounter in February, Leeds forward Georginio Rutter told Sky Sports: “We are the finest team, I believe. Today, I can’t describe, I don’t have words, and I may be fatigued. I’d want to say that we are from Leeds.”
Shortly after Leeds’ loss to QPR confirmed Leicester’s promotion, Dewsbury-Hall posted the interview clip on X, formerly Twitter, along with a thinking emoji. The official club account also responded to the deciding decision by writing “I predict a riot,” which is the title of the Kaiser Chiefs song that played following their famous loss to Leeds. Daniel Farke’s team won the game as three late goals cancelled out Wout Faes’ early opener.
Few could have foreseen QPR’s easy win over Leeds on Friday night, which clinched Championship safety. Leicester’s goal will be to finish the season with the league title.
The Foxes have two games remaining and are four points ahead of Leeds, with Ipswich a further point back. However, Ipswich has an additional game in hand, allowing the Tractor Boys to overtake City for first place before the end of the season.
