Keith Wyness, Everton’s former manager, feels Nottingham Forest’s four-point deduction will not be amended.
Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now operates a football consultancy advising elite teams, said that Forest’s sentence would remain the same despite their appeal.
Nottingham Forest were fined four points for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs).
The ruling is presently being appealed, but Wyness believes the appeal at City Ground will be unsuccessful.
Wyness reports the outcome of the Nottingham Forest points deduction appeal.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is currently 17th in the Premier League table, one point above the relegation zone.
Everton, their relegation opponents, have been fined eight points for identical breaches this season, with their second punishment of two points presently being appealed after their first punishment of ten points was reduced to six on appeal.
“I think it’s going to stay as it is,” he said on Inside Track. “I believe it will be a deadlock, with the points remaining the same.
“I don’t view their arguments as powerful enough to rebut one point or anything else. However, it will result in another 50-page situation with additional various loopholes or legal arguments that conflict with past commissions.
“So all it will do is start to build this cottage industry now of lawyers who can appeal, and are now getting more and more precedence to argue.”
