Keith Jackson has stated that Rangers gaining a point against Manchester United in the Europa League would be “terrific”.
The Daily Record journalist feels the Gers could draw at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday (January 23).
Philippe Clement’s club is coming off a 5-0 victory against Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (19 January), and the Red Devils are in poor form.
Jackson stated in the Daily Record (20 January): “Who knows? Rangers have developed a habit of punching above their weight on Thursday evenings. And Man United has been hit and miss under new manager Rubin Amorim.
“If Philippe Clement can get back up the road with a point, then it would represent a terrific result for the Ibrox men.”
Rangers has every chance against Manchester United.
Manchester United has had a disappointing season, with Ruben Amorim replacing Erik ten Hag in the dugout.
The Portuguese manager’s arrival has not resulted in the reversal of fortunes that the Old Trafford fans had hoped for.
After losing 3-1 to Brighton in the Premier League on January 19, Clement’s club had the perfect opportunity to strike another dagger in the Red Devils.
Rangers were able to rest several of their finest players against Fraserburgh, giving Cyriel Dessers the opportunity to go back on the scoreboard.
While the Nigerian impressed, Hamza Igamane will be expected to lead the line following his debut in the current season.
However, Ianis Hagi and Danilo will be unavailable, and it is unclear how Clement will set up to potentially upset the Premier League giants.
The Glasgow club is in a solid position in the Europa League table, and they have the opportunity to go to the knockout stages.
A point at Old Trafford will help the Gers’ chances significantly.
