Rangers had one of their poorest performances of the season in the Scottish Cup, losing 1-0 to Queen’s Park on Sunday.
The Gers have now been knocked out of every cup competition they were expected to win this season.
Granted, they may still be in the Europa League, but it’s difficult to see how they’d win the title, especially after their dreadful performance against Callum Davidson’s side on February 9.
There have been occasions when Philippe Clement appeared to have turned a corner with his Rangers club, but he always seems to take one stride forward and two steps back.
It’s little wonder that Daily Record journalist Andy Newport describes this as a “crisis point” for the Rangers.
Philippe Clement has little ground to stand on in Rangers.
Clement’s time at Ibrox appears to be coming to an end after allowing his team to withdraw from the last serious competition they could compete in.
Fans have been asking for the Belgian’s head for quite some time now, and this appears to be the final nail in the coffin for some.
Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (9 February), Newport revealed a handful of rumors he had heard at Ibrox following the match.
“I’ve seen some bad days here, especially lately but that’s up there with one of the worst, this is now a crisis point for the club,” Newport told the press.
“They have a manager who has lost all respect, trust, and faith in the fans, and I’m not sure yet, but there were some reports of little protests outside the front entrance.
“I’m not sure how huge that became or what was involved, but I’ve heard a few tales.
“This is now a major crisis for Philippe Clement.”
Patrick Stewart needs to relieve Philippe Clement of his duties.
Most fans believe there is no way back from the devastating defeat over Queen’s Park on Sunday.
The Belgian may have regained confidence after placing eighth in the Europa League, but it has all been lost now that his team has been eliminated from the cup.
While the Scottish Cup was perhaps not the most significant trophy for Rangers fans at the start of the season, after they were narrowly defeated by Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final in December, it was the only thing they had going for them.
Most fans were probably hoping to add at least one trophy to their collection, but now that that’s off the table, it’s difficult to see why Patrick Stewart would want to retain the Belgian.
There’s just under half of the season left, and unless a new face is brought in to inject some fresh air into the Ibrox camp, it’s difficult to see how anything will come of their campaign.
