Journalist: Rangers evidently have money ready to sack Clement following what Stewart said

Philippe Clement’s time at Rangers may be coming to an end.

After being on thin ice several times this season, the manager shattered it with a humiliating 1-0 loss to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.

Patrick Stewart previously praised Clement but insisted that outcomes have to improve, with the new CEO now putting himself into a corner after a recent revelation.

Rangers prepare to sack Philippe Clement.

Steven Donn, writing for the Scottish Daily Mail in its print edition on Tuesday (page 70, 11 February), claims that the Ibrox board has the funds to fire Clement immediately.

“Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart previously stated that finances would not determine whether Clement survived in the hot seat, so the money is apparently available if they decide enough is enough.”

“So really, the only question the Ibrox board should ask is: do they believe Clement is the right man in the long term?”

According to the Scottish Sun, sacking Clement would cost Rangers £1.2 million.

Patrick Stewart to announce Philippe Clement’s sacking.

After his arrival in mid-December, Stewart is responsible for making this call.

With Fraser Thornton also serving as chairman, important decisions must be made at Ibrox ahead of the Scottish Premiership showdown with Hearts.

Clement may not be in the dugout against Tynecastle on February 16.

After refusing to resign, it is up to Stewart and the Ibrox board to take the choice out of the managers’ hands and ensure the trial is complete.

A couple of unusual results can be understood, but a massive accept to follow Celtic’s dominance and alarming away form in the Scottish Premiership is unacceptable at any level, let alone Rangers.

Clement clearly cannot see the failure in front of his eyes, and if a defeat to mid-table Scottish Championship opposition does not shine as brightly, he has clearly lost his mind in Govan.

Everyone understands that you can’t keep sacking managers until real investment is made to turn things around, but Clement has lived all of his lives and it’s time to start over.

Something dramatic will need to happen to change the mind of any fan at Ibrox, and if the money isn’t there to sack him, that needs to be said right now.
