Joshua Zirkzee reportedly “has no interest” in leaving Manchester United, despite being strongly connected to a January departure.
Even though the Dutch striker only joined in the summer, his possible exit has garnered more column space than his on-field accomplishments.
In United red, the 23-year-old has struggled since scoring the game-winning goal off the bench during a fantastic debut against Fulham.
Since leaving Bologna, he has been in every matchday squad, but in 28 games, he has only managed four goals and two assists.
Over the past few months, rumors of a move away have been intensifying, with a reunion with Thiago Motta—who oversaw him at Bologna and is currently in charge at Juventus—on the horizon.
It was reported last week that Juventus might give United striker Dusan Vlahovic in return for Zirkzee. This could be alluring as a ready-made option to add more goal-scoring ability to the team.
Although it is “unlikely” that United would entertain a straight loan, Sky Sports reports that Juventus would want a loan agreement for the player.
However, Sky Sports points out that the team would really want to keep the player, although other stories have followed this line of reasoning to conclude that the Red Devils seek a permanent sell.
Zirkzee’s camp “has received multiple approaches about a move,” according to the article, but “they have all been told he is not going anywhere.”
Along with Juventus, other Serie A powerhouses Napoli, Inter, and Milan have also reportedly expressed interest in the forward. According to Sky Sports, “several Premier League clubs” have also approached the player.
Josh offers everything, so I want to keep him,” manager Ruben Amorim recently stated. He’s attempting in training, but the window is open and we don’t know. We’ll see what transpires.
Most remarkably, Sky Sports claims to comprehend that “Zirkzee loves Manchester United and is determined to prove himself in the Premier League, so he has no interest in leaving the club.”
This contradicts the story that the Dutchman wants to leave United, either to return to Italy or somewhere else, because he is unhappy there.
This allegation is therefore an anomaly, as credible reports elsewhere indicate that Zirkzee is likely to leave in January.
Nonetheless, it comes from a reliable source and will inspire supporters who would like to see the player given more opportunities to succeed in the infamously competitive English top division.
