Leeds United return to action on Tuesday night following Saturday’s draw at Huddersfield Town, and Connor Roberts knows better than most that promotion is not gone after one disappointing result.
Leeds failed to capitalise on playing against 10 men for more than 45 minutes in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby, with Patrick Bamford equalising after Roberts came off the bench to assist.
Roberts has already made an important contribution to our campaign for automatic promotion, having come on loan from Burnley in January for the summer. A player who understands what it takes to be promoted.
After failing to beat struggling Huddersfield at the weekend, the 28-year-old’s experience with Championship promotion will be counted on to keep spirits and belief strong.
Speaking to Welsh outfit Sgorio over the weekend, Rodon emphasised Roberts’ importance both on and off the pitch, calling the right-back as “brilliant” but also crucial behind the scenes at Leeds.
“He’s an excellent addition to the company; his experience will always benefit us. When asked about Roberts, Rodon responded that being among the boys made it easier to settle in; he has loved it this season.
Joe Rodon emphasizes how essential Connor Roberts is at Leeds.
Leeds have a young roster, therefore Daniel Farke will have to rely on the older members of his team. Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas, and Bamford bring long-term core and promotion experience.
However, there are also players who have previously competed in this tier with other clubs. Roberts has made significant improvements in that area off the field. On it, he is also conducting business. He’s scheduled to start soon.
His goal against Leicester, his assist on Saturday, and his FA Cup performance against Chelsea, where he made his sole Leeds start. Roberts will almost certainly start against Stoke City on Tuesday night at Elland Road.
