Joao Palhinha’s £29.8 million proposal has been’rejected’, but conversations are still ongoing as Liverpool’s transfer plans emerge

Fulham rejects Bayern Munich’s offer for midfield target Joao Palhinha, according to the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Joao Palhinha, a Fulham midfielder and Liverpool transfer target, has received an offer of €35 million (£29.8 million). The Portugal international has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, with Premier League rivals Arsenal also showing interest, but the offer has come from outside.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Bayern Munich made an opening bid late last week that was turned down by the Cottagers. Bayern appeared to have completed the signing of Palhinha last summer, but the deal fell through at the last step, and the Bavarians are clearly determined not to let that happen again.

Talks are claimed to be ongoing, with efforts being made to reach an agreement in the next days. Palhinha and Bayern will be hoping that everything is in order before the European Championships begin, with Portugal facing the Czech Republic on Tuesday, June 18, and Palhinha eager to impress.

“I don’t know if it’s a closed door or not, but everything in football is very uncertain,” he stated recently when asked about his future. “I cannot say whether the door is closed or open. I can’t put myself in that situation either.

“Today, I want to focus more on the European Championships because that’s the goal: to make a good impression at the Euros, and then everything else will follow. People already recognize me.”

“Being in the Premier League means I’m in a very large shop window, possibly the biggest of them all. The Euros are also a showcase that everyone watches all around the world.” Despite remaining tight-lipped about his future plans, the 28-year-old has already expressed a desire to quit before playing at Anfield earlier this year.

“I’ve always said that I feel the love that the supporters have for me,” he told Sky Sports before Liverpool beat Fulham 2-1 in the Carabao Cup. I want to give everything. I am always 100% professional here, and I will do my job every time I play for Fulham.”

Liverpool’s interest in Palhinha waned during the January transfer window, but it is likely to persist. Numerous exit links for important players look to be stalling any significant moves for new acquisitions, with Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Alisson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold among those speculated to go.

With the futures of two wingers uncertain, the bulk of links are emerging, with Johan Bakayoko of PSV Eindhoven, West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus, and Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville all expressing interest.
