Jamie Carragher has given his thoughts on Steve Cooper’s return to management.
The former Nottingham Forest manager is back in the Premier League after being named Leicester City’s new manager on a three-year contract. Cooper will face the Reds for the first time since leaving City Ground in December, when the Foxes host Forest at the King Power Stadium on October 26. He will return to the City Ground with Leicester next May.
“I’m delighted for Steve. Carragher told Sky Sports that it is difficult to acquire another Premier League job after losing one. “These are desirable positions. Twenty managers from all over Europe and the world, including some of the best managers in the world, are interested in joining the Premier League, so he will be thrilled to be given the opportunity.”
“He built up a nice relationship with the Nottingham Forest supporters – they were actually a little bit disappointed when he moved on,” said the reporter. “Hopefully, he can create that rapport with the Leicester fans as well, since they may have some issues this season in terms of a points deduction and what they can do in the transfer market.
“So, I think for Leicester to stay up they all need to be together and he’ll need some serious backing from the board and the supporters.”
