Jamie Carragher forecasts where Tottenham is going to finish this season in the Premier League

Jamie Carragher believes Tottenham Hotspur will not finish ahead of Arsenal or Liverpool this season, and that the Lilywhites will compete for Champions League qualifying.

Tottenham are level on points with their North London rivals Arsenal in fourth position, which is rather impressive given that the club is only in the early stages of a new project under Ange Postecoglou and has dealt with an unparalleled injury crisis this season.

Given Spurs’ performances without several of its key players, some Tottenham fans may be dreaming of a title challenge once all of their stars are fit again.

Ange Postecoglou has done little to lower expectations, admitting last week that his team is in the Premier League title fight (BBC Sport).

Where will Spurs finish in the Premier League?

Following Tottenham’s 2-2 tie with Manchester United, Gary Neville indicated that Postecoglou’s side could finish ahead of Liverpool, given the return of players such as James Maddison (Sky Sports).

However, his fellow Sky analyst, Carragher, refuted that assessment outright, stating that Spurs will compete with Aston Villa for a top-four finish.

The Liverpool veteran told the Stick to Football podcast: “I don’t see Tottenham finishing ahead of Liverpool or Arsenal.” I do not see that. I believe Tottenham will compete with Aston Villa for the top four or five spots this season.”

There is still a lot more football to be played this season, and given how tight things are at the top of the table, there may be many more twists and turns.

I don’t think Postecolgou or the Spurs players will glance at the table right now. They will take each game as it comes and see where they stand as the campaign nears its end.
