James Pearce shares what he’s now been told about Trent Alexander-Arnold after new rumours surface

Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Liverpool right-back, is currently the subject of numerous rumours.

The Reds have yet to offer Alexander-Arnold a new contract, and with his current deal set to expire next summer, things are becoming tense.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James believes Arne Slot has handled Alexander-Arnold and the other two Reds players with contract issues correctly.

However, the general consensus is that things need to get sorted quickly with the Liverpool academy graduate.

Real Madrid are said to be circling Alexander-Arnold and there is a real worry that the pull of the European champions could convince Trent to leave his boyhood club.

In the meantime, though, some strange rumours about what Alexander-Arnold is planning off the pitch started to circulate on Friday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is not buying Nantes

Alexander-Arnold is an active footballer away from his day job.

The Scouser proudly set up The After Academy in April 2023, a programme designed to give career opportunities to young players who find themselves dropped from academy systems.

Alexander-Arnold is also a minority shareholder in Formula 1 team Alpine F1. He’s got his fingers in a few pies.

And according to French outlet L’Equipe on Friday, Alexander-Arnold is now looking at doing something else in his spare time, too.

They inexplicably allege that Liverpool’s No.66 is contemplating an £84m takeover deal to purchase Ligue 1 team Nantes.

Trent had previously expressed interest in owning Saint Etienne and Le Havre, but is claimed to have’set his sights’ on Nantes, who may be up for sale.

It is an unusual story that has immediately piqued the interest of the media.

However, according to journalist James Pearce, this is just not true. The journalist took to X on Friday morning to dispel rumors about Alexander-Arnold’s takeover proposal.

“Told this is not true,” Pearce responds to a story-related post.

    How about Alexander-Arnold’s contract?

This is an incredibly bizarre story. If there is no truth to it, one needs to wonder where it came from.

From Liverpool’s perspective, it is an undesirable distraction as they try to work out Alexander-Arnold’s new contract.

As time passes, the fanbase will become increasingly anxious that things are not in order.

However, nothing appears to be impending at this time. Perhaps there will be an unexpected announcement, similar to what Liverpool did with Mohamed Salah in 2022.

However, unless that happens, Reds fans may be in for a long and stressful wait. At least one rumour about Trent’s abroad move has been put to rest; let’s hope for another as soon as feasible.
