Paul Merson has given his prediction on whether Nottingham Forest will be relegated this season. The Sky Sports analyst was speaking after watching the Reds play Luton yesterday.
Forest were forced to settle for a draw on Kenilworth Road. Chris Wood gave the Reds the lead before halftime, but Luke Berry’s late goal won the hosts a share of the spoils.
After the game, Merson gave his opinion on whether Forest would have enough to survive this season. We looked at what the pundit actually stated.

Merson seems to like watching Forest yesterday. He was quite complimentary during the game and believed the Reds should have won.
In truth, he has a point, with Forest squandering numerous opportunities to stay out of sight against their struggling opponents. It was not to be, and Forest should find out how many points will be deducted tomorrow.
Merson told Sky Sports News yesterday: “I’ve seen enough today to believe Forest won’t lose. I believe they will defeat Palace; I’m not sure about Fulham; they’re one of those teams whose results are unpredictable, but I believe they will defeat Palace at home.
“I do not see them going down. Forest was the better team today. I thought they were extremely comfortable and would be unhappy if they didn’t stay here.”
Forest requires motion on the pitch.
Merson’s words are good, but this season should have been a lot more pleasant. Forget the bad refereeing decisions; if Forest could defend set pieces, relegation would not even be an option.
As a result, the Reds must now wait to see out the outcome of their PSR accusations, and Forest will be hoping for some mercy.
Although the club is now three points ahead of the drop zone, they may find themselves below the dotted line when the announcement comes tomorrow.
Merson made some valid remarks about Forest during yesterday’s Soccer Saturday. However, it’s time for the Reds to stop talking and start showing some determination on the pitch.
