Manchester United may reintroduce Marcus Rashford into their squad against Rangers, according to Mark Goldbridge.
The global content creator (22 January) claims he has heard “rumours” Rashford may return to Ruben Amorim’s plans, before hosting Philippe Clement’s side in the Europa League’s penultimate league phase encounter on Thursday (23 January).
Goldbridge went on to criticise “weak” Amorim for maybe offering Rashford a return after previously dismissing him following allegations he wants to leave Old Trafford.
Speaking via a webcast on his YouTube account, The United Stand, Goldbridge said: (22 January, 23:08): “I’ve heard a few rumors that Rashford might be in the team [Thursday].
“If he returns to the squad tomorrow, I believe it will be difficult for many fans to deal with. The only thing I’d add is that the player wishes to leave and has expressed this publicly. This player has participated in numerous power plays at this club.
“Amorim has come in and put him out, but if he returns, player power will triumph again. Amorim appears weak. If he’s back in the squad [to face Rangers], I don’t blame Rashford; this has been going on for years. “This is on Amorim.”
Marcus Rashford may return for Manchester United vs Rangers.
Rashford last featured for Manchester United in their 2-1 Europa League victory against Viktoria Plzen on December 12.
Since publicly stating his desire to leave his boyhood club, Amorim has chosen to keep him out of the squad, although as an unused substitute for one game against Newcastle United on December 30.
Despite United’s disastrous season thus far, which has seldom improved since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, Rangers will have plenty of attacking threats to worry about on Thursday, even without Rashford.
Philippe Clement is under a similar kind of strain at Ibrox, and while he is unlikely to persuade many that he is the long-term Gers option, a win at Old Trafford would provide some much-needed optimism.
Amad Diallo, who briefly played for Rangers as a 19-year-old on loan in 2022, has been United’s key attacking threat this season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
