According to Football Insider, Sunderland winger Jack Clarke will have a physical on Friday morning (23 August) before joining Ipswich Town.
The Black Cats accepted a proposal for their best player when Ipswich met their £20 million asking price.
Both teams have finally achieved an agreement in full, and personal arrangements with the player have been agreed upon.
As reported by Football Insider on August 22, Leeds United and Southampton displayed late interest in the 23-year-old, but Ipswich moved quickly to complete the transfer.
Clarke was persuaded by Kieran McKenna’s ambitions for his role at Portman Road and chose to return to the Premier League.
Jack Clarke due for Ipswich Town medical as Sunderland exit approaches.
Clarke joined Sunderland in 2022 after his career had stalled at Tottenham, where he made only four appearances and spent four loan periods.
Since moving to the Stadium of Light, he has appeared 114 times, scoring 28 goals and providing 23 assists.
He is seen as an important element of Sunderland’s promotion campaign, but their unsuccessful attempts last season prompted the winger to explore his options.
His time at Sunderland has piqued the interest of Premier League clubs, namely Crystal Palace and West Ham.
However, recently promoted Ipswich assured him of their ambitious vision and stability under McKenna’s leadership.
The manager signed a new long-term deal earlier this summer and has received significant support in the transfer market as a result.
Clarke will now join highly regarded players Omari Hutchinson, Jacob Greaves, Liam Delap, Sammie Szmodics, and Arijanet Muric in making the permanent transfer to Portman Road.
