Inside the Nottingham Forest ‘bubble’, Nuno’s impact is explained during survival fight

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare to play Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams has spoken about the influence head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has made since taking over at the City Ground.

The Portuguese was appointed in December and has had a successful start with the Reds, defeating Newcastle United and Manchester United. However, since then, the team has only won one Premier League game in 2024.

Nonetheless, full-back Williams feels Nuno’s “passion” and open-door approach will benefit Forest as they fight to avoid the relegation. And he believes the Reds’ new style of play will help them win games.

“Since he’s come in, he’s created a new style for us, which all the players are on board with and really enjoying,” the Wales international told the club’s official website. “He’s really enthusiastic about the players and the supporters. Fans may not notice because it occurs within our daily lives, but they may be unaware of how passionate he is.

“I’m really loving working with him right now. We have a tight relationship, and I’m always searching for ways to improve, so I know I can always turn to him for help.

“We are very confident, and we know we have the quality and belief in each other.” We know we have these remaining ten games to make things right; there’s no use in feeling sorry for ourselves, and we can consider these ten games as a mini-tournament to attempt to score as many points as possible.”

Forest travel to relegation rivals Luton Town on Saturday for a crucial encounter at the bottom of the standings. Nuno’s side has now lost four games in a row following their defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

“We’re going to have our game plan, we believe in the manager and what he’s put us out to do and we’re going to stick to it and hopefully get the three points,” he said. “It won’t be easy; it’ll be challenging. All of our attention is on Saturday’s game, and hopefully we can get these three points to carry us into a successful international break.”
