Marcus Rashford has left Manchester United for Aston Villa, and Ruben Amorim says he’s relieved the former Manchester United forward won’t dominate his news appearances.
Ruben Amorim acknowledges that he is “thankful” that Unai Emery can finally answer questions about the Manchester United loanee and that he is happy that the drama surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future is finished.
The forward will spend the rest of the season at Aston Villa, where they still have a chance to finish in the top four, after leaving Old Trafford late in the transfer window. After it became apparent that Rashford had no future in Manchester, he stopped playing for United in the middle of December.
Amorim publicly acknowledged that the player needed to change if he wanted to succeed, therefore he dropped him for the Manchester Derby victory and never brought him back into the fold.
Despite Rashford’s poor play during the previous 18 months, he was frequently included in Amorim’s news conferences due to his exclusion. The United manager, however, is happy that he can now discuss various topics while still concentrating on his players.
He stated: “I am only focused on these games, and as we previously stated, we are fighting for our jobs until the summer. Fortunately, Marcus and Unai are currently in Birmingham, so you can ask another coach these questions this month. We only have our athletes in mind.
The 27-year-old’s loan agreement includes a £40 million buyout option, which might mean his stint at Old Trafford, where he has played since his debut in 2016, ends sooner rather than later. It’s agreed that Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s salary, but not the loan fee.
A few months back, Rashford scored the first goal of the Amorim era against Ipswich, but he hasn’t played much since. His death has been highlighted by the new manager’s persistent disregard for him in spite of the team’s difficulties.
Rashford lost his England spot due to his decline, and he was unable to attend the summer Euros. However, it has been predicted that he will regain his peak performance outside of Manchester. After years of unsuccessful moves, Amorim is convinced that they will adopt a long-term approach to recruitment, thus despite his departure, United didn’t bring in any new players.
He stated: “I think the club is taking its time; we understand how urgent the team’s situation is right now, and nobody wants to repeat the mistakes of the past. We’ll see in the summer. However, as I mentioned earlier, we are extremely cautious when it comes to transfers since we have made some mistakes in the past.”
