‘I’m Hearing From Sources’ – Exclusive: Liverpool will get bid of ‘£70m + £30m’

Former Everton manager Keith Wyness has pushed Liverpool to accept what he believes will be a “£100 million” approach from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, said the time is right to cash in on the 31-year-old, who has one year left on his contract.

Salah has long been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League with the launch of their grandiose football project in 2022.

Last summer (2023), the Liverpool star received offers from Saudi clubs but chose to remain at Anfield.

This season, he has 24 goals and 13 assists in 41 games in all competitions, although Jurgen Klopp has recently rotated him out of the group.

Wyness stated it would be “wise” for Liverpool to sell Salah during the summer window.

He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “With one year left on his contract at 31, the figures I’m hearing from Saudi sources are approximately £70 million, plus add-ons of roughly £30 million.

“I feel such add-ons will be very realistic in the Saudi Pro League in terms of goals and trophies.

“That’s the figure we’re looking at, and that gives them the headline figure of £100 million.

“I believe Liverpool would be wise to cash in on him now.

“He would do well to travel to the Middle East, particularly near Egypt.

“Part of the Saudis’ strategy is that the value of the TV rights will skyrocket. These rights are up for renewal right now.

“I believe the focus is on money streams rather than just football.

“He is the most well-known and popular footballer in the Middle East.”

“I believe Liverpool should do it this summer.

“It’s a lot of money with just one year left, and it would be wise to take it right now.”
